Prayer pointers for Saturday 23rd - Friday 29th January 2021

Verse of the month for January 2021
Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,’
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Isaiah 54:10

Saturday
Pray for families in the north-west of England and in Wales, enduring the dual pressures of the pandemic and also of flooding after the recent storm Christoph. Pray for a good response from the government, locally and nationally. Ask God to use his people in service and loving witness to their communities.

Sunday
Pray on for Lynda and Victoria and for any others who are suffering, physically or psychologically. Ask specifically that today they may know God’s strengthening and his people’s support. Pray for any we know who have tested positive for Coronavirus and have developed symptoms – for effective treatment and for long-term recovery.

Monday
Continue to pray for the ongoing Life Explored courses, running by Zoom on Monday and Wednesday this week in homegroups. Pray for effective leadership of the groups, in this slightly unfamiliar format and style. Pray for an impact on our sharing of the gospel in our friendships and in future Life Explored courses, from Easter onwards.

Tuesday
Pray for our Kaleidoscope meeting happening today. Patrick Bamber, married to Susan Rimmer’s daughter, Philippa, will be speaking about their life in Co. Sligo, Ireland. Pray for him to be encouraged to know of our interest. Pray also for any people we know here who struggle to join meetings online, for our efforts to encourage and support them.

Wednesday
Praise God for the provision and speedy authorisation of a vaccine against the Coronavirus. Thank God for the scientific enterprise which has made such work possible in record time. Pray the effective roll-out of the vaccination programme to those who need it most quickly, including members of All Saints awaiting appointments.

Thursday
Give thanks for our local Church of England Primary School, serving the villages of Great and Little Shelford. The school governors are meeting tonight by Zoom. Pray for a useful meeting as the school community continues to adapt to the challenges of offering education online and in school.

Friday
Pray for our mission partners, Ben and Jenny – living in a Muslim majority country in the Middle East and bearing witness to Jesus Christ with friends and work colleagues. Pray for the work permit to be granted which makes longer term resident status possible – and for the final stages of Jenny’s pregnancy.
