Prayer pointers for 17th - 23rd April 2021

Verse of the month:
Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
John 20:19-20

Saturday
Bells are being rung in parish churches throughout the country, including at All Saints, in the hour before the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh in Windsor. Give thanks for John Coppendale’s leadership of our ringers over many years. Pray for the funeral itself – for the gospel to be heard and mourners, including the Queen, comforted.

Sunday
Pray for our services today – with AllSaintsKids meeting, at 9:30 in church, with parents and others, then 11am with Simon Scott speaking in the ‘Too good not to share’ series and Edward Keene continuing the series in Psalm 90 at 6pm. Pray for the live stream of both morning gatherings to pastor well those who can’t yet come into the building.

Monday
Please continue to pray for Lynda, for daily grace with her long battle against acute myeloid leukaemia. Pray for Derek as he supports and encourages her, and for them both as parents and grandparents. Pray for Jess Habib struggling since November with dizziness and difficulty balancing.

Tuesday
Pray about the economic impact of the Covid19 pandemic and for the ongoing response of the National government. Pray also about the cash squeeze in local churches. Deanery Synod meets on Thursday this week, with a discussion about how the 23 local Anglican churches can raise money for their annual ministry share.

Wednesday
Today is our Annual Church Meeting, happening on Zoom. Pray for effective review and planning, as we begin to emerge from lockdown, with a resulting healthy, gospel-hearted culture at all levels in our church. Pray also for Life Explored, meeting tonight for the second time

Thursday
The village Annual Meeting happens today, with attention being given to the East West rail link with the route in Cambridge being proposed to run through Little Shelford. Pray for all the different voices to be heard in the discussions and for Christians as salt and light to be involved; also for Anthony Browne, our Member of Parliament.

Friday
Pray for everyone involved in authorised training for different roles in the Church of England: our curate, Edward Keene; ordinands at Wycliffe Hall (Tom Chapman), Oak Hill (Mark Jackson) and Ridley Hall (Nick Romans); Neil Wade, recently approved for training as a Licensed Lay Minister; and David Tisdall, on a selection conference shortly.
